军训第10天心得体会 - 留学生视角
编者按: As an international student, experiencing military training in China can be quite the adventure. Here’s a detailed reflection from one of our contributors on their tenth day of this unique experience.
Introduction: The Unexpected Journey
When I first arrived in China as an international student, I never imagined that my academic journey would include military training. But here I am, on day ten, and I have to admit, it’s been quite the ride. Let me share some thoughts and insights about this unique experience.
Getting Comfortable with the Uniform (Zhuang Fu)
One of the first challenges was getting used to the uniform. It felt strange at first, but over time, it became a symbol of unity and discipline. Wearing the same clothes as everyone else created a sense of belonging, even if we were all from different backgrounds. Plus, the practicality of the uniform—especially the sturdy shoes—was a big plus during long hours of standing and marching.
The Drill Instructors: Tough Love
Our drill instructors (Dui Zhang) were strict, but in a way that pushed us to improve. They had a no-nonsense approach, which could be intimidating at times. However, as days went by, I realized that they genuinely cared about our progress. Their tough love helped us become more disciplined and focused, essential skills for any student, especially an international one navigating a new culture.
Learning the Marching Steps (Bu Fa)
Marching in unison was one of the most challenging aspects. At first, it seemed like a simple task, but coordinating every step with precision was harder than it looked. There were moments of frustration, but the satisfaction of finally getting it right was immense. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork and patience—two qualities that will undoubtedly benefit me in future group projects and collaborations.
Building Camaraderie Among Strangers
Being part of a diverse group of students from different countries, we initially struggled to communicate effectively. However, as we spent more time together, language barriers began to dissolve. We shared stories, jokes, and even learned a few words from each other’s languages. This camaraderie made the experience much more enjoyable and less daunting. It’s amazing how a shared experience can bring people together so quickly.
The Unexpected Benefits
While the physical demands of training were significant, there were also unexpected benefits. For instance, waking up early and following a strict schedule improved my overall sleep quality and time management skills. Additionally, the physical exercise helped me stay fit and healthy, something that’s often neglected amidst the chaos of academic life.
Reflections on Discipline and Self-Control
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of self-discipline. Military training requires a level of mental toughness and perseverance that translates well into academic and personal goals. Whether it’s sticking to a study schedule or managing stress, the habits developed during these ten days will serve me well in the years to come.
Conclusion: A New Perspective
As the tenth day draws to a close, I’m grateful for this experience. It has challenged me in ways I didn’t expect and taught me valuable lessons about discipline, teamwork, and resilience. While it may not have been what I envisioned when I decided to study abroad, it has undoubtedly enriched my time here in China. So, to all the international students out there who might be facing similar experiences, embrace them—they just might surprise you in the best possible way.
